In 2011, Tawakkol Karman was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her work in democratizing Yemen and has been referred to as The Lady of the Arab Spring and The Mother of the Revolution.

Together with eight other female journalists, she founded Women Journalists Without Chains to advocate for press freedom. Since 2007, she has led more than 100 peace demonstrations to protest against restrictions on press freedom and legal actions against journalists. She played a central role in the 2011 uprisings in Jemen and has been working for human rights in the region ever since.

Tawakkol Karman meets with Carin Klaesson from the Nobel Prize Museum in a discussion about courage, determination, and how injustice against an individual is injustice against all humanity. The conversation will be held in English. The museum closes after the conversation , at 19:00.
