Welcome to an atmospheric concert with Håkon Kornstad, award winning Norwegian jazz saxophonist. Through live recorded samples and improvisation, all his performances become truly unique.

Håkon uses his imagination and a simple electronic device to record and play sampled loops as he performs. His instrumental technique is both traditionally solid – he has beautiful tone on whichever saxophone or wind instrument he selects – and extended with percussion sounds and the use of overtones to broaden his palette of sound colors. Lyrical melodies glide and float over layers of sound and beats that grow gradually into an orchestral accompaniment, all of it based on improvisation.

He has released five solo albums. The latest one, Out Of The Loop, was recorded during the 2020 pandemic lockdown in Sofienberg Church in Oslo. The album carries the listener through many textures across its tracks, often sounding electronically created – yet all sounds are generated by saxophone or by Håkon’s rich tenor voice.

The concert begins at 18:00 and has a duration of approximately 60 min.

During the evening, Bistro Nobel serves small dishes from our Friday menu as well as cocktails, wine, beer and non-alcoholic options. The bistro is open until 21:00. The ticket price also includes entrance to the museum’s exhibitions, which are also open until 21:00.
