In Snow and Rain Shall Pass, photographer Karin Alfredsson portrays a wilderness that is disappearing because of global warming. She is interested in climate change and, as a visual artist, wants to contribute to engagement with environmental issues on an emotional level. Her photographs of landscapes, seas and lakes often show a barren and magnificent beauty.
The exhibition also features her film Arctic Ocean – A Journey to the North Pole. The work touches on our smallness in the face of nature and is a result of her signing on as a field assistant on the icebreaker Oden’s research expedition in 2018. In the cold on deck, she has filmed the ice masses, the sky, the movement of the ship and the sea. She has also recorded sounds of the wind, ice and Oden’s machinery. The film features sound and music by composer Sebastian Öberg.
The exhibition will also include poems by Nobel Prize laureate Jon Fosse, selected by Fosse and Alfredsson. Fosse was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2022.
