Physics was the prize category that Alfred Nobel mentioned first in his 1895 will. In the late nineteenth century, many scientists considered physics to be the foremost of the sciences ‒ perhaps even Nobel himself. His own research was closely related to physics. Since 1901, Nobel Prize laureates in physics have been selected by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
On 8 October, at no earlier than 11:45, we will find out who will be added to the 225-name list of physics laureates. Would you like to experience this exciting moment with us at the Nobel Prize Museum? Every day we will live-stream when each Nobel Prize committee announces who will be awarded this year’s Nobel Prize in its field.
