Alfred Nobel showed a great interest in social issues and the peace movement. His acquaintanceship with Bertha von Suttner, who was a driving force in the international peace movement in Europe and was later awarded the Peace Prize, influenced his view of peace. Peace was the fifth and final prize category that Nobel mentioned in his will. Since 1901, Nobel Peace Prize laureates have been selected by a committee elected by the Norwegian Parliament (Storting).

On 11 October 11, at no earlier than 11:00, we will find out who will be added to the 141-name list of peace prize laureates. Would you like to experience this exciting moment with us at the Nobel Prize Museum? Every day we will live-stream when each Nobel Prize committee announces who will be awarded this year’s Nobel Prize in its field. Invited experts will help us understand what achievements are being rewarded and what this may mean for the future.
