At the Nobel Prize Teacher Summit teachers from all over the world meet Nobel laureates, top scientists, and peace activists around a theme of great importance in education. Apply to attend the Nobel Prize Teacher Summit in Stockholm, Sweden in March 2025.<\/p>\n<p>There are almost always alternatives. But when it comes to organising society, democracy is still the best option for ensuring the freedom and rights of people.<\/p>\n<p>The theme this year is \u201cThe Future of Democracy\u201d. How do we teach about democracy, trust, and critical thinking? What skills do young people need to become informed participants in shaping and safeguarding a democratic society?<\/p>\n<p>With support from the Swedish Institute (SI) &#8211; a public agency that builds interest and trust in Sweden around the world \u2013 we can now offer 20 teachers financial support to attend a four-day programme that centres around the Nobel Prize Teacher Summit.<\/p>\n<p>The Summit will take place on Friday, 28 March and the international participants are invited to an extended programme from Wednesday, 26 March to Saturday, 29 March.<\/p>\n<h4>Teachers from the following countries are eligible to apply:<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Africa: <\/strong>Tanzania, Zambia<\/p>\n<p><strong>Asia: <\/strong>Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam<\/p>\n<p><strong>Europe: <\/strong>Ukraine, Moldova<\/p>\n<p><strong>Latin America: <\/strong>Colombia<\/p>\n<p><strong>MENA: <\/strong>Egypt<\/p>\n<h4>Extended programme for international guests:<\/h4>\n<h6><em>(Preliminary schedule)<\/em><\/h6>\n<p><strong>Wednesday, 26 March<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Arrival in Stockholm <\/em>14.00-18.30<\/p>\n<p>A welcome address and introduction at the Nobel Prize Museum, Stockholm.<\/p>\n<p>Meet and greet with representatives from the Swedish Institute (for SI-scholarship<br \/>\nrecipients only).<\/p>\n<p>Reception at Stockholm City Hall.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday, 27 March<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>8.30-18.30 The democracy mission in the Swedish schools.<\/p>\n<p>Introduction, school visits and workshop at Nobel Prize Museum.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday, 28 March<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>8.30-16.30 Nobel Prize Teacher Summit 2025 at M\u00fcnchenbryggeriet, Stockholm<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday, 29 March<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>9:00-12:00 Workshop at the Nobel Prize Museum followed by a guided tour.<\/p>\n<p><em>Travel back home<\/em><\/p>\n<h4>The scholarship will consist of:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Support for the costs of visa, travel, transfers and meals. Disbursed when the participant is in Stockholm:\n<ul>\n<li>Teachers from Europe: SEK 7,000 (about EUR 570\/USD 575)<\/li>\n<li>Teachers from MENA (Egypt): SEK 15,000 (about EUR 1 220\/USD 1 240)<\/li>\n<li>Teachers from Asia: SEK 20,000 (about EUR 1,630\/USD 1,650)<\/li>\n<li>Teachers from Africa: SEK 20,000 (about EUR 1,630\/USD 1,650)<\/li>\n<li>Teachers from Latin America: SEK 25,000 (about EUR 2,040\/USD 2,065)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Hotel in Stockholm, 4 nights (booked by the Nobel Prize Museum)<\/li>\n<li>Introduction at the Nobel Prize Museum on Wednesday, 26 March<\/li>\n<li>Study visits and workshop on Thursday, 27 March, including lunch<\/li>\n<li>Conference fee for Friday 28 March, including lunch<\/li>\n<li>Programme on Saturday, 29 March at the Nobel Prize Museum<\/li>\n<li>Insurance during the period 25-30 March<\/li>\n<li>A personal letter of invitation, for use when applying for a visa and the like<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Requirements for receiving a scholarship:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>You are a trained and professionally active <strong>teacher <\/strong>(pre-school to college level)<\/li>\n<li>You understand, speak, read and write English <strong>fluently<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>You arrange your own Schengen visa; when a scholarship application is approved, the scholarship recipient will receive a letter of invitation and proof of insurance to enclose with the visa application<\/li>\n<li>You are able to pay for your own round trip ticket and transfers. The scholarship in the form of SEK 7,000 (about EUR 570\/USD 575) for teachers travelling from Europe, SEK 15,000 (about EUR 1 220\/USD 1\u00a0240) for teachers travelling from Egypt, SEK 20,000 (about EUR 1,630\/USD 1,650) for teachers travelling from Asia, SEK 20,000 (about EUR 1,630\/USD 1,650) for teachers travelling from Tanzania and Zambia, and SEK 25,000 (about EUR 2,040\/USD 2,065) for teachers travelling from Latin America, will be transferred to your bank account when you have arrived in Stockholm on 26 March<\/li>\n<li>You have a bank account to which we can transfer the money in SEK, EUR or USD, and a credit card to use for your purchases in Sweden<\/li>\n<li>You work in one of these countries: Colombia, Egypt, Indonesia, Moldova, Philippines, Ukraine, Vietnam, Tanzania or Zambia<\/li>\n<li>When you return home, you will organise a <strong>Nobel Prize Teacacher Summit Hub<\/strong> for teacher colleagues in your home region, using materials provided by the Nobel Prize Museum<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Criteria in assessing applicants, in addition to above requirements:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Gender balance<\/li>\n<li>Allocation between countries<\/li>\n<li>Assessment of a personal letter in which a teacher describes their workday and how he or she will spread knowledge further in home country networks<\/li>\n<li>Previous connection to Sweden<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The deadline to apply for a scholarship to attend the Nobel Prize Teacher Summit programme during 26-29 March is <strong>5 February, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>You may only apply by using the link below, not by letter or e-mail. Applicants will be notified by e-mail no later than 20 February, 2025 whether they have received financial support or not.
