Can a surface resembling shark skin reduce the fuel consumption of an aircraft? And what can we learn from the leaves of plants that will prevent marine growth on the hulls of ships? On 4 October, the day that the Nobel Prize in Physics is announced, the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) will present an open lecture on how nature can inspire technological solutions. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Simple mechanisms from nature can be utilised to create surfaces that keep themselves clean and that minimise resistance from the flow of air and water.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Shervin Bagheri<\/span><\/strong>, professor of fluid mechanics at KTH, will tell about his research aimed at answering questions that can make it easier to develop new tools for creating more energy-efficient
