Today, the world faces its biggest challenges ever. What opportunities does the Nobel Prize have to contribute the new knowledge and solutions needed to ensure the survival of humanity and the planet?<\/h5>\n<p>An open conversation with:<br \/>\n&#8211;<strong>Beatrice Fihn<\/strong>, an alumna of Stockholm University, is executive director of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), which was awarded the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize for its work in raising awareness of the humanitarian consequences of the use of nuclear weapons, and for its pioneering efforts to achieve a treaty-based ban on such weapons.<br \/>\n&#8211;<strong>Gunnar von Heijne<\/strong>, professor of biochemistry at Stockholm University and one of Sweden&#8217;s leading researchers in the biochemistry and molecular biology. He is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and a former chairman of the Nobel Committee for Chemistry.<br \/>\n&#8211;<strong>Victor Galaz<\/strong> is an associate professor of political science and deputy director at the Stockholm Resilience Centre at Stockholm University. He is also a senior researcher at the Beijer Institute, Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.<br \/>\n&#8211;<strong>Annelie Drakman<\/strong>, historian of ideas at Stockholm University.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nModerator:<br \/>\n\u2013<strong>Gabriella Ahlstr\u00f6m<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Open Lectures at Kulturhuset is a joint project of Kulturhuset Stadsteatern (the Stockholm municipal cultural centre) and Stockholm University.
