Michael Bishop<\/strong> was awarded the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nobelprize.org\/nobel_prizes\/medicine\/laureates\/1989\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1989 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine<\/a> for the discovery of the cellular origin of retroviral oncogenes, which has had an extensive influence on the development of our knowledge about mechanisms for tumor
