The 2021 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to two co-recipients,
Benjamin List and David MacMillan, who made the same discovery independently of each other: a more effective and environmentally friendly way of driving many different chemical reactions. This dress captures the moment of a chemical reaction when it is in its most visually dramatic state.
The two Laureates are represented by the two elements in the dress, which complement each other and combine into something new. The meeting between the classic and the modern from each part creates a reaction intended to embody the discovery by the Laureates. In all its simplicity, it challenges limitations.
