The Nobel Prize Teacher Summit 2020 was transformed into a digital meeting of 2 hours. Watch the video here! Listen to Nobel Prize awarded ICAN’s director Beatrice Fihn and scientists, refugees and teachers discuss how education is impacted by migration and what teachers can do for a sustainable future.

Our world is facing the tremendous challenges of war and armed conflict, a global pandemic, climate change, human rights abuses, injustice, inequality and the constant threat of an arms race. Too many people have been forced to acknowledge that their homes are no longer safe and leave everything behind to seek refuge in a new country. So what can teachers do to promote a sustainable and peaceful future? Is it possible to give students hope, the knowledge they need and the capacity to act?

Meet Nobel Laureates, writers, refugees, scientists and teachers to discuss, reflect and learn.

Speakers:

Beatrice Fihn, Executive Director of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) who received the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize.

Anna Sarkadi, Professor of Social Medicine, Uppsala University, who does research on how migrant children become established in their new countries and the role schools play in that process.

Fateme Khavari, a peace activist and author who became well-known in connection with the sit-in strike for the right of unaccompanied minors to security while seeking asylum.

Linda Beskow, from Nobel Peace Prize awarded ICRC, who will talk about the initiatives to benefit unaccompanied minor refugees.

Ali Osman, Associate Professor of Education, Stockholm University, researcher on migration who sees teachers as extremely important in today’s polarized society.
